Contacting Kuapa Kokoo

Divine Chocolate understands the importance of academic and professional research, and the desire for individuals interested in development and Fair Trade to further their learning. However, as a farmer-owned and farmer-focused business, our priorities must lie with the people who grow our cocoa beans. Kuapa Kokoo is a very large organization and because of its outstanding reputation as a Fair Trade organization it receives hundreds of requests from all around the world to host visitors. This places quite a burden on the organization. All requests to visit Divine or Kuapa Kokoo must be submitted via our formal application process. Where requests are granted, we need to schedule visits alongside other events at Kuapa, such as peak harvesting periods, and so applicants may need to be flexible in planning their trips. We would therefore strongly advise that applicants not base their planning on the assumption that they will be able to gain access to Divine or Kuapa Kokoo. In particular, it is not acceptable for visitors to travel to Ghana without obtaining a prior invitation from Kuapa Kokoo to visit. This creates substantial inconvenience for Kuapa staff and is likely to create a bias against your application in our assessment process. For information on how to apply, please contact us in writing. Your initial letter should specify the reason for your visit, funding you have for your travel if any (Kuapa and Divine are unable to pay for your travel costs including in country travel, translators, and accommodations), the proposed timing of your visit and your length of stay. If you are traveling with a group, please indicate the number of people in your party.
