Divine chocolate's Hungry to Change the World Recipe Contest

Official Rules

To Enter:

The following promotion is intended for viewing in the contiguous United States and the District of Columbia only and shall only be construed and evaluated according to United States law. Do not enter if you are not a legal resident of, and located in the United States at the time of entry. You must be 18 years of age or older to win.

To enter, submit your Divine Chocolate recipe, photo of recipe, and statement of my you are Hungry to Change the World through Fair Trade at www.divinechocolateusa.com by using the online entry form provided; or send your recipe, photo of recipe, and statement of my you are Hungry to Change the World through Fair Trade, along with a self addressed stamped envelope to Divine Chocolate, 1730 Connecticut Ave. NW 2nd Floor, Washington, DC 20009. Entries received online must be received by midnight EST December 15, 2007.

Entries are limited to one per individual. Entries must be original and not previously published. Divine Chocolate recipes submitted online must include your name, address, phone number, email address recipe name, specific list of ingredients with their exact quantities in the order they are used and preparation instructions. At least One ingredient MUST BE DIVINE CHOCOLATE. While photos are not required, photos of your prepared recipe will contribute to your creativity score and improve your chances of winning. In addition to the Divine Chocolate recipe, include a statement of why you are Hungry to Change the World through Fair Trade.

Incomplete or illegible entries will be disqualified. Please post photos of your Divine recipe with your submission. All recipes and photos become property of Divine Chocolate and will not be returned. By entering this contest, you grant Divine Chocolate and contest sponsors the right to edit and publish the recipe, with credit, in Divine Chocolate promotions, products, and online services and those of its corporate affiliates. Confirmation of receipt of entry is available for online entries.

Sponsor Products:

Each recipe must include one or more Divine Chocolate product. Using multiple Divine Chocolate products in a single recipe does not increase your chance of winning. Mark the Divine Chocolate product(s) used on your entry form.

Judging:

On or about January 5, 2008 all eligible entries received will be reviewed in a first round of judging by Divine Chocolate professionals. Each recipe will be judged on creativity (40%), statement on why you are hungry to change the world (40%), preparation instructions and practicality (20%). Public ratings will not count toward your score.

Finalists will be reviewed and tasted by our panel of judges and winners announced in mid-January 2008. The judges will determine a first prize, second prize, and third prize winner.

Previously published recipes (such as those appearing in cookbooks, magazines and newspapers, published or promoted by food companies or publicized on the Internet) and winning recipes from national contests will be disqualified. Divine Chocolate will require all finalists to sign statement of eligibility and release of liability prior to participation in the Finals. This statement includes certification that his or her recipe is original and has not been published or publicized. By acceptance of the invitation to the Finals, each finalist consents to use of his or her name and/or photograph for publicity purposes without further compensation. Only one individual per entry will be allowed to compete in the Finals. Judging will be conducted by a panel of judges selected by Divine Chocolate. Judges' decisions are final. Judges will announce the Grand Prize at the Finals event to be held in Washington, DC on or about February 5, 2008. In the event that a recipe includes an ingredient which cannot be easily supplied for the Finals, Divine Chocolate reserves the right to provide a substitute ingredient that is similar to the original ingredient. No ingredients or garnishes can be added or deleted from recipes prepared for the Finals. Recipes will be edited by Divine Chocolate for clarity and submitted to finalists for approval. If for any reason the Contest is not able to be conducted as planned because of circumstances or causes which in Divine Chocolate's sole opinion, affect the security, fairness or proper conduct of this event, Divine Chocolate reserves the right to modify the location, structure or nature of the Finals.

Categories and Prizes:

The following prizes will be awarded: first prize, second and third prize. Winners will be notified no later than January 14, 2008. The First Prize Winner will receive a roundtrip ticket to Washington, DC and hotel accommodations to attend the Finals media event and awards ceremony and a Fair Trade basket of Divine Chocolate. The second place winner will receive a gift certificate from The Baker Catalog and a Fair Trade basket of Divine Chocolate. The third place winner will receive $100 of Divine Chocolate. In the event that an entry is submitted by a team or group of entrants, the prize will be awarded to the one person who appears for the Finals event. Prize winners are responsible for taxes on the value of all travel and prizes awarded.

Who Can Enter?

Entrants must be legal residents of the contiguous United States at the time of judging. Entrants must be 18 years of age at the time of submission. Employees of Divine Chocolate, sponsoring companies, their affiliates, subsidiaries and agencies, or any member of the immediate family (parent, children, siblings, spouse, regardless of where they live) or same household of such employee (whether related or not) are ineligible. By entering, you agree to be bound by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of Divine Chocolate, which are final and binding on all matters pertaining to this Contest.

Miscellaneous:

No substitution or transfer of prizes, except at the discretion of Divine Chocolate. Divine Chocolate is not responsible for misdirected or delayed mail, lost or late entries or for electronic transmission errors resulting in omission, interruption, deletion, defect or delay in operations or transmission, theft, destruction, unauthorized access to or alteration of entry materials, or for malfunctions or limitations of any kind. If for any reason the Internet entry portion of the Contest is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Divine Chocolate which affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Contest, Divine Chocolate reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest. Divine Chocolate reserves the right to select winners from eligible entries received as of the termination date. Void where prohibited by law. All federal, state, and local regulations apply. Entrants agree to be bound by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of Divine Chocolate, which are final and binding on all matters pertaining to this Contest. Names of Category and Grand Prize winners will be posted on our Web site following the final competition.

Divine Chocolate reserves the right, in its sole discretion to disqualify any person tampering with the entry process, the operation of the web site or otherwise in violation of the rules. Divine Chocolate further reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate or modify this promotion if not capable of completion as planned, including infection by computer virus, technical corruption, non-authorized human intervention or force majeure. In the event of cancellation, Divine Chocolate reserves the right to award the prizes to eligible, non-suspect, entries received prior to date of cancellation. The use of automated entry devices or any other conduct that impedes the integrity of the contest is prohibited. In the event of a dispute, entry will be deemed made by the holder of an established e-mail account associated with the entry.

Except where prohibited by law: (i) entry constitutes permission for Divine Chocolate to use Finalists and grand prize winners' recipe, entry, name, hometown, likeness, photograph, voice and statements regarding this contest for editorial, public relations, promotional and advertising purposes in any media, including the Internet, for any purpose whatsoever on behalf of Divine Chocolate without compensation; (ii) potential grand prize winners will be required to complete and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, Ownership and Release of Liability, Copyright Assignment and Publicity Release within 10 days of notification of the entry with the next highest score will become the alternate winner. IF winner notification is returned undeliverable, prize will be forfeited and awarded to the entry with the next highest score. By participating and winning a prize, winners release Divine Chocolate, its parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, and agencies and their respective directors, officers, employees and agents from any and all liability with respect to the prize won and participation in the contest.
