Position: Office Assistant
Description: Full time, 35 hours per week.
Salary: Entry Level. Commensurate with Experience.
Location: Washington, DC. No telecommuting.

Divine Chocolate is the world’s first farmer-owned Fair Trade Chocolate brand. The company, Divine Chocolate Inc, is owned in part by the farmers of Kuapa Kokoo, a cocoa cooperative in Ghana. Our mission is to bring the benefits of the chocolate trade to cocoa farmers through the creation of a dynamic branded proposition. We realize this mission by delivering high quality chocolate products made of the ‘best of the best’ beans from Ghana, creative marketing and sales, and education of retailers about Fair Trade and cocoa growers in Ghana, and through creating awareness in consumers that their purchasing power can create a sweeter world for cocoa growers.

We are seeking an energetic, highly motivated Office Assistant to provide administrative and clerical assistance, ensure the smooth operation of our growing, and participate in a growing and dynamic team of chocolate lovers committed to getting a fair deal for cocoa growers.

This is an excellent entry level position for someone looking to break into the world of socially responsible enterprise. Our 35 hour work week also makes this an interesting option for parents returning to the work force or retirees looking for a second career.

Tasks include but are not limited to:

Answer office phones and respond to email and mail inquiries for information from the public and customers

Assist with data entry and updating customer records

Assist marketing and sales team with dissemination of sales collateral and promotional material

Work with sales and marketing team to staff product demos, as needed.

Order and maintain inventory of office supplies

Fulfill orders for samples and information from consumers, retailers, and media

Assist with arranging travel and accommodations for board, farmers traveling from Ghana to the US, and travel to trade shows and speaking engagements.

Qualifications

High School Diploma. BA/BS desired

Prior experience working in a professional office environment. Demonstrated ability to work with the public

Good written and oral communication skills

Professional phone manner

Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).

Detail oriented. Ability to juggle multiple tasks with grace and humor

Creative problem solver

Ability to follow directions.

Desire to work for a Fair Trade organization and commitment to Divine Chocolate’s mission.
